The Sunflower's Life

One night I stood alone,
Bending my head again.
I could not figure out
Why I felt so much pain.
Then the sun came out,
And my head slowly rose.
I can feel the warmth and kindness
As through my body it flows.
I spread my arms out slowly,
Absorbing all the light.
The sun gives me strength
I never got from the night.
Instead of embracing the darkness,
I eagerly welcome the dawn.
As I allow my petals to stretch out,
The pain is finally gone.
