Significant developments in the last biennium

  • Growth in church loans and Stewardship Funds.
  • Improved representative availability. Our Saskatoon office expanded to full-time, and Ross Hardy's territory was enlarged to include northern British Columbia in addition to Saskatchewan and Alberta. Paul Woods's efforts are now concentrated in southern British Columbia.
  • Improved wills and estate planning service. Document delivery time is improving with the use of electronic interoffice document transmission.

    Changes anticipated in the future

  • Focus: Recent growth in the deposit and RRSP funds frees us for greater emphasis on stewardship teaching. We intend to use this opportunity to broaden the giving base in our congregations by encouraging all Christians to invest in ministry.
  • Quebec: We plan to provide a suitable stewardship ministries resource to our Quebec churches, in cooperation with a liaison person appointed by them.

    Continuing challenges

  • Providing scriptural stewardship teaching. We do this through presentations and materials.
  • Providing information. We seek to keep our written materials accurate and effective by regular reviews, revisions and additions. We seek to make them attractive, easy to read and easy for churches to display.
  • Providing convenient access to funds and programs. Church visits make the representatives available personally on a regular basis. It is our intent to visit churches about once every two years. Competent head office staff respond to your needs and inquiries in a timely manner.

Easily used programs result in a broader support base for Mennonite Brethren ministries. For example, increased participation in our wills and estate planning program results in more bequests for ministry. About 52% of wills prepared name at least one MB ministry as a beneficiary.
