Academic Dean Appointed at Columbia
ABBOTSFORD, B.C.
The Board of Directors of Columbia Bible College is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Penner to the position of Academic Dean, commencing the summer of 1997. Penner is currently the interim Academic Dean at Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Fresno, California, where he has been since 1985, teaching in the area of church and family ministries and serving as Dean of Students since 1986. Prior to that, he was the Associate and Executive Secretary for Christian Education for the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. He has also served as associate pastor at Killarney Park MB Church in Vancouver.
Penner is a 1965 graduate of Columbia (then Mennonite Brethren Bible Institute). He earned B.A. and M.S.W. degrees from the University of British Columbia as well as an M.Div. from MBBS. In 1990 he received an Ed.D. degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago.
Ron and his wife Linda have a 12-year-old son Christopher. The entire family looks forward to returning to the Fraser Valley.
