Cornelius Dyck

Cornelius Dyck passed away May 31. He was born Dec. 16, 1928 to Jacob and Katherina Dyck in Lawson, Sask. He enjoyed being part of a large family. In 1941, the family moved to Yarrow, B.C. He attended Bible school in Yarrow for a year and continued to work on his father's farm. He married Rita Janzen in 1949. They rented a small farm, then bought a house in Yarrow. He worked at a shingle mill where he suffered a serious accident that left him permanently handicapped. Rita began working. They moved to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1979. He used a wheelchair and occasionally a scooter. Eventually, he lived alone, but enjoyed the visits from his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his patio garden and watching sports. He played accordion and mandolin. At times, he struggled with his physical limitations, but came to demonstrate an accepting spirit. His circumstances eventually led him to turn to the Bible and the faith he had once professed. The visits of family and friends made him very happy. However, he longed to be liberated. Predeceased by chosen daughter Marilyn and 1 brother, he is mourned by Rita; sons Reg and Barry; 5 grandchildren; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Martini Adriani Ganzeveld

Martini (Tini) Adriani Ganzeveld passed away May 20. She was born Aug. 17, 1930 in Vlaardingen, Netherlands. She married Peter Ganzeveld Mar. 6, 1951. They immigrated to Wetaskiwin, Alta. in 1954. They moved to Armstrong, B.C. in 1990, joining Armstrong Bible Chapel in 1994. She loved to be around people. She sold Stanley Home Products and Tupperware and started her own business, the Langley Delicatessen, which ran for 5 years. She always retained a keen sense of humour. Since moving to Armstrong, B.C., Tini's health deteriorated. She moved into Sutherland Hills Rest Home in Kelowna, B.C. She is mourned by Peter, 5 daughters and grandchildren. A memorial service was held May 27 in Armstrong Bible Chapel.

John Janzen

John Janzen passed away May 2. He was born Oct. 4, 1904 to John and Susanna Janzen in Pologie, Ukraine. His mother died when he was 4. His father married Sara Abrahams. In 1912, the family moved to the Crimea. He accepted the Lord in 1922. The family immigrated to Altona, Man. in 1925, moving to a farm at Lena, Man. in 1926. John farmed there for 49 years. In 1926, he was baptized, joining Winkler (Man.) MB Church. He was later a charter member of Lena MB church and served in various positions, including treasurer. He married Greta Jantzen in 1927. She died a year later, leaving 1 son, Johnny. He married Frieda Pauls in 1931. Three more children were born. She died in 1951. He then married Margaret Froese. In 1974 they retired to Winnipeg, joining Central MB Church. They travelled extensively during these years. He often told stories of his memories of Russia. He is remembered for his commitment to Christ; love for the local church; strong, simple faith; generosity; willingness to help those in need; love of farming; and a strong work ethic. Predeceased by first wife Greta and second wife Frieda, he is mourned by Margaret; sons John of Winkler and Nick of Winnipeg; daughters Helen Loeppky of Winnipeg and Katie of Vancouver; 3 grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; and 2 sisters. The funeral was May 6 at Portage Ave. MB Church, Winnipeg, with Gerhard Friesen ministering.

John P. Wall

John P. Wall passed away Apr. 28. He was born May 24, 1918 in Schoenwiese, Sask. The family immigrated to the Chaco, Paraguay in 1926-27. He learned to work hard and to live with very little. He accepted Christ at 21 and was baptized at 22. He worked as a survey crew cook and on ranches and later worked for Jacob A. Braun. He married Katharina Braun in February, 1948. They moved to a newly established area of the colony to start farming and ranching. Katherina died of lung cancer in 1955, leaving him with 3 young children. He moved back to the main centre of the colony in 1957 to provide them with an education. They immigrated to Manitoba in 1963. On the trip there, he met Lena Federau whom he married in February, 1964. They moved to Vancouver in 1967, where he worked in construction. He took early retirement due to knee injuries, and they moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1978. They enjoyed a six-month trip to Paraguay in 1988. He is remembered for living a life of integrity and hard work, was sensitive to those less fortunate and had a simple but profound trust in God. He often sang, "None but Jesus would I have to guide me". Predeceased by first wife Katharina, son Johnny in 1964 and daughter Tina in infancy, he is mourned by Lena; daughter Erna Doerksen; sons Ben and James; 7 grandchildren; and 1 sister. The funeral was May 2 at King Road MB Church, Abbotsford, with Frank Peters ministering.

Martha Willms

Martha Willms passed away June 1 in Surrey, B.C. Predeceased by husband John in 1994, she is mourned by daughter Kathryn Skau of Calgary; sons John of Abbotsford, B.C., Eldon of Gem, Alta., Arthur of Surrey, Willard of Red Deer, Alta.; 11 grandchildren and 3 sisters. The funeral was June 4 at Bakerview MB Church, Abbotsford, with John Neufeld ministering.
