SENIOR YOUTH (GRADES 7-12)

Cool things to do

The youth program is awesome. They have many cool things you can do. Every time I go, I always have a fun time.

The first session was Thursday evening. We met outside and walked over to Concord College gym, where we played some relays, like the one where we took turns drinking pop out of a baby's bottle; every person had two seconds to drink, and we kept going until we finished it. Our team tied for second; unfortunately, there were only three teams.

On Friday, we got on a bus to go to McIvor Church. We studied a Christian booklet, Steps to Freedom in Christ. After lunch, we went to Fun Mountain Water Slide Park, which was a lot of fun. Later on, we went back to McIvor Church for a pizza party, which ended up being pretty bizarre. One guy named Mike Neufeld was telling the worst jokes. ("They used to call anchovies unclechovies, but that didn't work, so they changed it.") After we ate, some of us watched Veggie Tales, an animated series where vegetables tell stories about the Bible. They're funny; I recommend them.

On Saturday, we met in the usual place, but some new people (Youth Mission International alumni) were organizing the R.A.S.K. (Random Acts of Senseless Kindness) orientation. They sat us down and explained everything that was going on.

Then we got into groups. I was with two girls named Monica and Sylvia. Our leader was Mike. I like him because even though his jokes are bad, he's funny. Then we got into the van and went off to do our own things. My group bought lots of chocolate bars and drink boxes and handed them out to people for free. Some people thought that we were asking for money, like one guy who took a drink box and pulled out a hundred dollar bill.

At lunch we had subs and some fruit punch while we discussed the things that had happened while we were there. After lunch, we went out again. We went to the mall and opened doors for people. We did this for about half an hour, and we got a reputation all the way around the block. Then we went back in the van.

Anyway, that's my experience of the youth program. I hope to see you at the youth program next year.
