LETTERS FROM HEAVEN

Lilli Kehler. Country View Publishing, 53-3902 Latimer St., Abbotsford, B.C. V2S 7L5, 1995. Reviewed by Wayne Loewen.

There is a natural curiosity in all of us to explore the unknown heaven, the final frontier. All of us have, I suppose, our own imaginative journeys to what we understand is a perfect place. Jay Kehler was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 7, 1993. He was 21 years old. Those who precede us to that perfect place we dream of are often missed incredibly, especially on special occasions. Lilli Kehler, Jay's mom, chose ten of these special days over the course of his first earthly year in heaven and penned letters as if Jay were writing from heaven to his family. This is not a lengthy book, just 86 pages, meant as an encouragement to the family to help ease their loss. It is also a very earthly look at a very heavenly place. Discover how to get around in that vast place by "prop drifting", try a bit of fishing with James or John, realize you missed a few details in theology 101 when Jesus enters as professor, or simply go "shopping" to furnish your new home. This book will add fuel to the fire of your own imagination of what heaven will be like. It's a great read for all ages.

Jay was involved in the music program here at Northview Community Church when he died. I can only imagine the immense enjoyment he is now experiencing in a very spectacular music celebration.
