Strong waterfront program at Columbia

Lindell Beach, B.C.

What a great summer. Fifty-four campers made a first-time commitment to the Lord and over 200 made a public re-commitment to Him as well. Our 60 staff did an excellent job of portraying Christ to the campers. I sensed God moving this summer in the lives of the staff as they allowed God to work through them to touch the campers' lives. Our camp speakers were excellent this year as they challenged the campers in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Maralee Dawn of Campus Crusade for Christ and Paul Powers of Little Children's Ministry shared for the first three weeks. Harry Engstrom from Central Heights MB Church, Ron Van Akker from Bakerview MB Church and Brad Hagkull from Broadway MB Church also shared with us.

Our waterfront program is one of our strongest programs. Under the leadership of our waterfront director, the campers enjoyed a fun and safe summer. The Torpedo Max (a giant yellow banana towed behind the ski boat) continues to be a highlight for campers. Our new climbing wall is completed and ready for next summer. A 20 ft., multi-angled wall will provide a challenge for all age and skill levels. We also tried a new schedule for the junior high camp this year and with a few adjustments think that it will be a good change. Another area that we are continuing to deal with is more non-churched campers joining us. Often they bring with them baggage that needs to be worked through. But it is exciting to see God working in their lives.
