John J. Jantzen
John J. Jantzen passed away of cancer July 21. He was born Jan. 25, 1914 to Johann and Helena Jantzen in Siberia. In 1925, the family immigrated to Gruenthal, Man. During the 1930s, he travelled to Ontario to scout opportunities on behalf of his family. They decided to move to B.C. He worked on a sugar beet farm in Coaldale, Alta., then joined his family in Yarrow, B.C., working various jobs including at a lumber yard. He accepted the Lord and was baptized, joining Yarrow MB Church. He married Helen Matthies in 1945. They settled in Richmond, B.C. They became charter members of Fraserview MB Church, where he served as registrar and sang in the male choir. He worked at Canadian Forest Products Eburne Sawmill for 30 years, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed travelling and volunteered as a driver in the community. Predeceased by 3 sisters, he is mourned by Helen; sons Ron and Ernie; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters. The funeral was July 25 at Fraserview MB Church, with Herb Brandt and Sam Taetz ministering.
Hannah Traub
Hannah Traub passed away Aug. 23 after a battle with cancer. She was born June 20, 1940 to Peter and Mary Reimer in Greendale, B.C. She accepted Jesus in March, 1956 and was baptized the same year. She graduated from Mountain View Bible College in Didsbury, Alta. in 1963. She married David Traub in fall, 1963. They pastored in Alberta, Ontario, Coquitlam, B.C. and Burnaby, B.C. She worked at various secretarial jobs, most recently at Willingdon Church in Burnaby, B.C. 1987-96. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May, 1996. She was hospitalized but was able to come home to be cared for by her family. She is remembered as a sensitive, gracious and hospitable person who loved to laugh and to bring joy and laughter to others. She was a loving person and a caring friend. Predeceased by her mother in December, 1994, she is mourned by David; daughter Karmen of Langley, B.C.; son Greg of Burnaby, B.C.; 3 grandchildren; her father of Chilliwack, B.C.; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was Aug. 27 at Willingdon Church, with Carlin Weinhauer, Bill Klassen, Ron Clark and Ed Boschmann ministering.
Harold James Neumann
Harold James Neumann passed away Sept. 6. He was born Mar. 13 to Olga and Jacob Neumann in Comox, B.C. He developed a strong work ethic while working at home on the farm. He accepted Christ and was baptized. He completed his engineering degree in Vancouver. He married Violet Kaethler while living in Vancouver. They moved to Ottawa, where he worked for the federal government for several years. They then returned to Vancouver, where he was self-employed in engineering and residential construction. They were involved in many aspects of church work during their time in Vancouver. They were challenged by illness and work stress, but he affirmed that the love of God enabled him to stand firmly: "The assurance of forgiveness and God's love has enabled me to stand up under the stress and turmoil of work, illness and bankruptcy and I am confident of this: When my life is over, I will go to meet my God and I will live with Him forever". Predeceased by his father and 1 sister, he is mourned by Violet; son Lloyd; daughter Teresa Klassen; 3 grandchildren; his mother; and 1 sister. The funeral was Sept. 11 at Northview Community Church, Abbotsford, B.C., with Vern Heidebrecht ministering.
