Christmas Music

If you are like me, you like to add Christmas albums to your collection each year. Two new Christmas CDs worth checking out are: Steve Green's The First Noel, and John Berry's O Holy Night. Both are country-folk type singing, very listenable. Green includes five familiar songs like "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus" and "What Child is This?", and five original compositions: "All My Heart Rejoices", "Rose of Bethlehem", "Jesu, Light of Lights", "Holy Child" and "Good News".

John Berry's voice has been described as rich and achingly pure. He was 1996 Grammy Award Winner for Best Southern Gospel, and has been nominated for Grammies and Academy of Country Music awards. His CD features "Joy to the World", "I'll be Home for Christmas", "O Come Emmanuel", and the title song "O Holy Night".

If you enjoy keyboard music, Trevor Olfert has a new CD out entitled simply "Christmas". This is a mellow type of music, and Olfert includes favourites like "Joy to the World", "O Come all ye Faithful" and "The First Noel". He also plays the hauntingly beautiful "Ave Maria". This CD is well worth checking out.
