"Bethany Impact" teams perform camp ministry

Hepburn, Sask.

Impact is a Bethany Bible Institute summer ministry program which began in 1992 that functions to assist Christian summer camps. This year, 17 students were divided into two teams and sent to work in seven camps in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta after a week of training.

The team functions under the leadership of third-year students who work with the camp directors and the team members to facilitate the programs of the camp and the spiritual growth of the team. During training week, the emphasis is on the personal commitment of the team member to Jesus and on preparing for camp ministry. Pastor George Boyd of Calvary Church in Saskatoon led the sessions and focus time, emphasizing the greatness of God and calling for individual surrender to Him. The teams left for their assignment after a commissioning service of personal commitment to God and to the team.

After returning from a summer of ministering in camps such as Jubilee Bible Camp in Manitoba and Camp Evergreen in Alberta, many Impact team members returned with stories of God's faithfulness. The overwhelming statement at debriefing was the desire to trust God daily like they did during the summer.
