Does God exist?--apparently
The 1996 Great American Think-Off was won by Charles Eginton, an 82-year-old retired surgeon who argued in favour of God's existence. The event is an annual essay and debate contest sponsored by the New York Mills Arts Retreat and Regional Cultural Center. Eginton's final challenger was Jeremy Jacobs, a 25-year-old rock musician from Alabama, who argued that God doesn't exist. Eginton said the most compelling reason for believing in the existence of God can be found in the make-up of man. "Why was he given the ability to reason abstractly? And most importantly, why was he given the need to worship?" Eginton asked. "There's only one answer: God planned it."--
