Steven Berg becomes the new senior pastor at South Abbotsford (B.C.) MB Church effective May 1. He has been pastor at South Calgary Community Church (Baptist) since 1983. He has a B.A. from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas and an M.Div. from Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. He and his wife Karen have four children, Mark, 17, Andrea, 15, Melissa, 13, and Samantha, 8.

Brent Alexander has been hired as director of West Bank Bible Camp near Herbert, Sask. effective Jan. 14, 1997. He has attended three years at Canadian Bible College in Regina and has five summers of camp ministry experience. He and his wife Verlynn have two children, Natalie, 4, and Isaac, 2, with another child due in April. The camp is operated by the Saskatchewan MB Conference.

Lee Harding is renewing his role as interim pastor at Woodrow (Sask.) Gospel Chapel while the church seeks a new senior pastor. He grew up in LaFleche, Sask. and the Gospel Chapel is his home church. He has a B.R.S. and a B.Th. from Briercrest Bible College in Caronport, Sask.

Grantham MB Church in St. Catharines, Ont. has appointed John and Ingrid Wiebe as interim leaders for a minimum term of six months. John is a retired teacher and has served as the church moderator for the last 14 years.

Warman (Sask.) MB Church held a commissioning service for new pastoral couple Conrad and Debbie Neudorf on Jan. 12. Darrel Schmidt has resigned as associate pastor of youth ministries at South Langley MB Church in Langley, B.C., effective July 31, 1997, after serving since 1989. He attended Briercrest Bible College, has a B.A. in biblical studies from Trinity Western University and has an M.Div. in pastoral care and church ministries from MB Biblical Seminary. He was a volunteer youth sponsor for six-and-a-half years, and has served on various summer ministry teams. He and his wife Maureen are open to the Lord's leading for their future.

Fred Serez has resigned as associate pastor in charge of college and career ministry at Waterloo (Ont.) MB Church, effective Jan. 18, after serving since June 1, 1995. Previously, he and his wife Catherine travelled through Europe and Africa and supervised a short-term mission team with Teen Mission International. He has a B.Sc. in theology from the University of Philadelphia and has a background in social work. They have one daughter, Anne, 4. They are awaiting the Lord's direction.

Alfred Reschke has resigned as associate pastor at Orchard Park Bible Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., effective Dec. 31 after serving since October, 1994. He has a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg, a B.R.S. from MB Bible College and an M.Div. from Winnipeg Theological Seminary. He has also done work towards an M.Th. He previously served as youth pastor at three Baptist churches in Winnipeg. He and his wife Maria have one child, Micah, 2. They are seeking further ministry opportunities.

Owen Leung, associate pastor of Pacific Grace Chinese Church in Vancouver, travelled to Venezuala Feb. 1-21, visiting the two Chinese MB churches there. He spent the first two weeks at the MB church in Caracas, and the final week at the MB church in Peurto La Cruz. His purpose is to encourage and nurture the leaders and congregations.

Twenty-seven workers participated in orientation at Mennonite Central Committee headquarters in Akron, Pa. Jan. 5-15. Ten are beginning overseas assignments, 16 are beginning assignments in North America, and one is beginning a service internship. Among those participating were Catherine and John Sawatsky of St. Davids, Ont., who are beginning four-month assignments in Akron. Catherine will be working as returns assistant and John as receiving assistant for Ten Thousand Villages. They are both retired and members of Vineland (Ont.) MB Church. Abe and Frieda Hildebrand of St. Catherines, Ont., are beginning three-year assignments in Bolivia. They will both be working in Mennonite colony relations. They previously served with MCC in Akron, Pa. and are members of Niagara Falls (Ont.) Christian Fellowship. Scarlett Fonseca of Winnipeg is beginning a two-year assignment in Winnipeg, where she will work as a mail clerk and relief receptionist for MCC Manitoba. She attended Pierre Radisson Collegiate in Winnipeg. She was last employed as a sales clerk at Croft Music in Winnipeg. She is a member of Iglesia Vida Abundante Church. Her husband is Xavier Fonseca. Joanne Peters of Penticton, B.C., most recently of St. John's, Nfld., is beginning a three-year assignment in May Pen, Jamaica, where she will work as an occupational therapist. She has a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from Queen's University in Kingston, Ont. She was last employed as an occupational therapist in St. John's. She is a member of Grace MB Church in Penticton and is affiliated with West End Baptist Church in St. John's.
