IBL President resigns
ST-LAURENT, QUE.
Sylvie Giroux, chair of the Board of Institut biblique Laval, has announced the resignation of Jean-Raymond Theoret as IBL president, effective in July, 1998. IBL is a Bible school operated by the Quebec MB Conference, with major funding coming from the Canadian MB Conference; it has a working arrangement with the Universite de Montreal, through which studies at IBL are counted toward a B.A. degree at the university.
Theoret joined IBL in August, 1981 and was appointed president in summer, 1982. The resignation date was determined through a consultation process in order to give IBL time to search for a successor. Although he is open to consider other options, Theoret would like to continue to serve IBL in a different role, particularly in teaching. "I take great pleasure and satisfaction in working with students," he said. "I would like to spend more time in the classroom and with students."
