The musical Father's House was forced to cancel further performances as well as a planned North American tour for 1997 after the musical failed to garner box office sales required to offset the $1.3 million spent on production. The musical, produced by Brian Doerksen, had a shortened pre-Christmas run at the Michael J. Fox Theater in Burnaby, B.C. In the musical, the story of a young girl's search for her long-absent father is set to music by an on-stage rock band. Doerksen is best known for writing widely-used worship choruses such as Refiner's Fire and Faithful One. He also wrote the music for the 50,000-selling album Father's House which was recorded and produced with singer-songwriter Paul Janz on the Vineyard Music Group label in 1993.--
