Practical lessons

St. Catharines, Ont.

A combination of humour, clear insight, challenging messages from Scripture and sheer energy kept the students of Eden High School focussed during the recent Bible Emphasis Week. The speaker, Bernie Smith of Bridging the Gap Ministries, brought with him years of experience and the ability to relate to youth. The topics addressed focussed on maintaining personal purity in a highly secularized culture. Issues such as the Lordship of Christ, gaining wisdom, and resolving to live according to biblical standards, were highly relevant and practical. Students responded well to the messages, and many came for small group and individual counselling sessions.

The worship time was lead by a group of students that included Steve Gossen, Christy Thom, Corrine Cheredaryk, Brent Nickel and Derek Elliotson, as well as Tom Shields, a worship leader at Westview Christian Fellowship, St. Catharines. The week ended with a youth rally held at Orchard Park Bible Church, Niagara-on-the-Lake, with many Eden students and community people in attendance.
