Isaak appointed to MBBS faculty

Fresno, Calif.

Jon Isaak, 36, of Winnipeg, Man. and now a Ph.D. student at McGill University in Montreal, Que. has been appointed to the faculty of MB Biblical Seminary.

Isaak will become an assistant professor of New Testament in fall, 1998.

Isaak said that he and his wife Mary Anne, both of whom have served in missions in Zaire and Russia, "realize that being involved in the formation of ministry students is really the continuation of our long-time commitment to the global mission of the church."

Both of the Isaaks are graduates of the University of Winnipeg and MB Bible College and were married in 1985. Jon earlier graduated from Winkler Bible Institute, while Mary Anne is a graduate of Bethany Bible Institute.

Their teaching ministries have taken them to an assignment teaching aboriginals in northern Manitoba, and to Kikwit, Zaire and St. Petersburg, Russia with MB Missions/Services. They served in Zaire from 1988 to 1990, and at St. Petersburg Christian University in 1994 and 1995.

In between the Zaire and Russia assignments, the Isaaks attended MB Biblical Seminary, where in 1994 Jon received a Masters of Arts in New Testament and Mary Anne received an MA in Theology.

During their candidacy visit this spring in Fresno, both Jon and Mary Anne stressed the partnership of their ministry, as they have always studied, served and taught together. The current phase at McGill is somewhat different, as only Jon is working on his doctorate. However, even during this time Mary Anne is helping pastor a church across the border in Vermont.

The Isaaks have two children, Peter, 7, who was born in Zaire, and Rianna, 5, who was born in Winnipeg.

They are currently associate members at Mennonite Fellowship of Montreal, and consider McIvor Avenue MB Church in Winnipeg to be their home church.
