Reg Toews became senior pastor of Greendale MB Church in Chilliwack, B.C. on May 1. He had been serving as interim pastor since October, 1996. He previously served as youth pastor at Kindersley (Sask.) Alliance Church for two years and pastor of Main Centre (Sask.) MB Church for over six years, then served four years at Chilliwack Central MB Church as associate pastor and senior pastor. He has B.R.E. from Briercrest Bible College and is working on an M.Div. from MB Biblical Seminary. He and his wife Brenda have three children, Renee, Vanessa and David.

Jean Pearson has been appointed administrator of Tabor Home in Abbotsford, B.C., effective July 1. Tabor is an intermediate care facility for seniors operated by a Mennonite Brethren board. Pearson is currently working as director of care and interim administrator at a Pentecostal home in Vancouver. She has a B.Sc.N. and an M.Ed. in educational administration focussing on gerontology. She has also been director of the Victorian Order of Nurses in Alberta and in Vancouver. She is replacing John Isaak, who is retiring June 30, 1997.

Dan and Misty Allen have been hired as youth pastor couple at Dalhousie MB Community Church in Calgary effective Mar. 1. Dan has a B.Th. from Briercrest Bible College and is working on a masters degree in adolescent ministry from Briercrest Biblical Seminary. He has worked with Christian Outreach International, leading a volleyball, drama and music ministry to Venezuelan youth. He has also worked summers at Camp Chestermere near Calgary. Misty works as an optician and has worked with Young Life in Calgary. A commissioning and installation service was held Mar. 17 in conjunction with the youth celebration service. This was followed by an evening celebration where each person and family introduced themselves by way of a story, skit or song.

Scott Falk has been hired as youth pastor at Neighbourhood Church in Nanaimo, B.C. effective June 1. He is a graduate of Columbia Bible College. He is married to Tara.

Jim Peters has resigned as director of administration at Concord College in Winnipeg effective May 31 after working there two years. He is a chartered accountant and will be returning to private practice. He and his wife, Karen have 4 daughters, Emily, 18, Stephanie, 14, Rebecca, 10 and Katharina, 7.

Harold Jantz was honoured with a lifetime membership to the Canadian Church Press during CCP's annual convention in May in Winnipeg. ChristianWeek editor Doug Koop praised Jantz for his legacy of "telling the story of God and His people", saying Jantz's 21 years as editor of MB Herald shaped the periodical which serves as a model for what a denominational paper should be. Jantz was also acknowledged for pioneering the national non-denominational paper, ChristianWeek over 10 years ago. Jantz's dedication to faith reporting stems from his deep love for the church, said Koop.

A commissioning service was held May 4 for incoming pastor Randy and Myrna Chase at Woodrow (Sask.) Gospel Chapel. Moderator Wally Sutter and Saskatchewan conference minister Ralph Gliege led the commissioning. Wyn Lautermilch and Garnet Fortnum prayed for their ministry. The Foam Lake (Sask.) Gospel Fellowship held their eighth annual New Beginnings ladies rally April 25. Val Block was the emcee for the evening. Shirley Isaac was the speaker. A local trio, Janice Arnold, Maureen Brown and Cindy Norman provided special music. Part of the program consisted of a fashion show of clothing, jewellery and make-up provided by Foam Lake businesswomen. A seminar on developing personal devotional life was held Saturday morning. Erma Rea was emcee for the morning.
