Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Joseph Kennedy says he's sorry for "mistakes" he made during his failed 12-year marriage to his first wife, Sheila Rauch Kennedy. His apology comes after a poll by the Boston Herald showed his popularity declining sharply, endangering his plans to run for governor. His former wife is touring in support of her book Shattered Faith, which criticizes the Catholic Church for granting an "annulment" of the marriage. Though the Catholic Church opposes divorce, the annulment permitted Kennedy to escape church discipline. The ex-wife is appealing the annulment to the Vatican.--
