Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
http://www.graham-assn.org/
This site will keep you up-to-date with news such as: "Evangelist Billy Graham announces June, 1998 Mission at Corel Centre, Ottawa." Each major campaign has its own page with information to help you pray and prepare. This organization is also concerned with youth, as reflected in the following journal excerpt found on the site: "We met at a fast-food restaurant behind the high school in Pacific Grove, California. I was a pastor, but I never told you. You and your friends talked more openly if I stayed underground. . . . " You'll be surprised by the frank report that follows--at least, I was.
Christian Peacemaker Teams
http://www.prairienet.org/cpt/
This site will help you understand what is behind this anti-violence movement. The following excerpt gives some idea of the kind of international help available from this organization: "See the Wholly Land: CPT has developed a packet of suggestions for persons expecting to travel to the Holy Land. Designed . . . to make sure that Palestinian questions are given fair attention, the packet includes practical ideas for travel; suggestions of how to evaluate commercial tours; a list of groups to work with in the Jerusalem region. More than 98% of the travel industry in the Holy Land is controlled by Israel and reflects the biases of the Occupation."
MennoLink Mennonite Information Center
http://www.prairienet.org/mennonite/index.html
This site, connected to the Lancaster Mennonite Conference in Pennsylvania, gives a broad overview of Mennonite organizations, congregations and colleges. Information is constantly changing and it is hard to represent the broad spectrum of both "Old" Mennonites and newer Mennonites, but this site does it fairly well.
Manitoba Mennonite Historical Society
http://www.mmhs.org/mmhs/
For people interested in Mennonite genealogy, this site can be a great help, but it also contains other interesting info. For instance, a list of resources by Delbert Plett on what he found at the Archives in Zaporizhya, Ukraine, contains the following note: "Records pertaining to Machno Army; e.g., 1919 requisition to Mennonite Gebietsamt for 4 men daily to tend to wounded soldiers. All these records are written on the back sides of pre-revolutionary documents. It is sometimes difficult to say which side of a page is more interesting."
Religio Show Salon International
http://www.religio.com
This international site will be helpful for any enterprise hoping to do
business in Europe. Its own summary brags in three languages: "All
informations necessary for Christian Churches buyers and managers" (sic).
Thomas Mennonite Church
http://www.pitt.edu/~kxy/Thomas
An example of what a local congregation can do with a web site. This small congregation (123 members) lists local contacts, office hours, statement of purpose, history and other information that might be helpful to prospective members. The site is also useful for current members; the volunteer
who maintains this site also posts each Sunday's bulletin.
Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship
http://www.tacf.org/
This four-year-old congregation's site includes a list of coming events, information on conferences, a list of tapes and books for sale, up-to-the-hour reports of current happenings at the church, and "Road Warrior" stories from staff travelling as missionaries.
This column of recommended sites on the Worldwide Web is compiled by David Hiebert of Scottdale, Pa.
