Executive Board: Many highlights

In the past year, the Canadian MB Conference Executive Board has:
1. Continued discussion with four provinces re the ownership of the assets of the former MB Bible College (now Concord College).

2. Sent executive minister Rueben Pauls to represent the Canadian MB Conference at the meetings of the International Committee of Mennonite Brethren (ICOMB) in India.

3. Appointed a Canadian representative to the General MB Conference task force on restructuring.

4. Continued work on section three of the Constitution, which was tabled when other constitutional changes were made at the 1996 Canadian Conference convention.

5. Begun planning for the 1998 Canadian MB Conference convention, which will be held in Willingdon Church in Burnaby, B.C., July 12-14.

6. Held a leadership retreat which established a major direction: "Healthy, Growing Churches".

7. Decided to "suitcase" Conference by sending Conference leaders to meet local church leaders in various areas during "off convention years".

8. Decided to cut 8% from projected expenses for the second year of the 1996-98 biennium, based on a significant deficit in the first year.

9. Completed an evaluation of executive minister Reuben Pauls, with positive results. A recommendation that he be reappointed for a second term will be processed at the next meeting of the Canadian Conference Council of Boards in January, 1998.
