Albert Trepke

Albert Trepke passed away August 22. He was born Aug. 24, 1902 to the Gottfried Trepkes in Zdunska, Poland. He came to faith in Jesus Christ in his early youth and was baptized in 1916. He emigrated to Canada at 29. He married Helen Rempel Aug. 14, 1943 in Vancouver. They moved to Clearbrook, B.C. in 1951. They joined the Clearbrook MB Church. Though a private person, he was generous, and successful in farming and land development. He enjoyed family picnics and playing the mandolin. His last years were spent at Tabor Home and Menno Hospital. He is survived by daughter Elfrieda Kitchen, son Gerhard, and 2 grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 29 at Woodlawn Funeral Home with Jay Neufeld ministering.

Peter Wiens

Peter Wiens passed away Aug 1. He was born Aug. 24, 1912 to Peter G. and Maria Wiensz in Karanbash, Russia. The family emigrated to Canada in 1913, settling near Dalmeny, Sask. He was converted in his 20s and baptized in Speedwell. He moved to Fairholme, Sask. in 1937. He married Nettie Loewen Aug. 13, 1939. They moved to Yarrow, B.C. in l942, living there, except for 2 years, until 1987, when they moved to Clearbrook. He worked hard to provide for his family, driving truck, farming raspberries and vegetables, operating a farm custom business, and retiring with a filbert nut orchard which he tended with care and pride. He served the church in music, maintenance and parking, also working in the MCC store and projects of Columbia Bible Camp. He played various instruments. He enjoyed travelling in his retirement years and keenly felt the loss of vitality of life. In 1990 he got a pacemaker and developed a congestive heart condition. Predeceased by a brother and infant son, he is mourned by his wife, eight children: Irvin of Abbotsford, Gordon of Kamloops, B.C., Stan of Medicine Hat, Alta., Lenora Siemens of Midway, B.C., Leonard of Chilliwack, B.C., Doreen Dyck of Keremeos, B.C., John of Aldergrove, B.C., and Clarence of Chilliwack, B.C.; 22 grandchildren; and 3 brothers. The funeral was Aug 6 at Clearbrook MB Church with Jacob Pauls, Goerge Baier and John Balzer ministering.

Matthew Peterson

Matthew Bradley Peterson passed away Aug. 7. He was born to Bradley and Holly Peterson of Herbert, Sask. and lived only 5 hours. He is mourned by his parents and sister Victoria.

Paul Wutzke

Paul Wutzke passed away suddenly March 19. He was born Feb. 10, 1927 to Emil and Augusta Wutzke on the family farm near Herbert, Sask. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He married June Penner on April 21, 1963 in the Swift Current MB Church. Predeceased by his parents and one brother, he is mourned by his wife, son Frank and daughter Eileen, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. The funeral was March 25 in Herbert MB Church with Ed Schmidt and Eugene Mau ministering.

David P. Petkau

David Petkau passed away Aug. 7. He was born Mar.31, 1909 to Peter and Elizabeth Petkau in Orenburg, Russia. His mother died when he was 15. He committed his life to the Lord at an early age. Later he was baptized. He was active in the church throughout his life. The family left Russia in 1926, settling first in Manitoba and then Saskatchewan. He married Elizabeth Rempel in Silberfeld, Man. on July 30, 1930. They moved to Oxbow, Sask. Hard times forced them to moved to Waldheim, Sask., and then to Vauxhall, Alta. They retired to Clearbrook, B.C. in 1975. His innermost desire was that each of their children would walk in God's ways. During retirement he enjoyed gardening, visiting those who were lonely, and helping in the church as he could. Predeceased by a son and a daughter, he is mourned by Elizabeth, 13 children: Pete, Mary Born, Anne Dyck, Dave, Henry, John, Helena Petkau, Jake, Sam, Dan, Aron, Kathy Evenson, Martha Allen; 82 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild. The funeral was Aug. 12 at Clearbrook MB Church with Jacob Pauls and Jacob J. Neufeld ministering.

Helena Dickman

Helena Baerg Dickman, nee Loewen, passed away Sept. 1. She was born Mar. 1, 1898 in Minnesota.The family moved to Osler, Sask. in 1901. She left home at 15 to work as a maid. She accepted Christ as Saviour at 18 and was baptized into Dalmeny MB Church in 1916. She married Abram P.Baerg on Nov. 30, 1920. They farmed near Mennon, moving to B.C. in 1938, but returning to Sask.in 1940. They moved back to B.C. in 1946, to the Abbotsford area. Abram died in 1966. She married Abram Dickman in 1973. He died in 1981. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, growing beautiful roses, and tatting and crocheting, for which she won awards at the Abbotsford Fair. She was an excellent seamstress. She had a lovely sense of humour. She prayed much for her family, and cared for her mother for 11 years, missing out on social and church activities to do so. Predeceased by sons Daniel and Ruben, an infant son, 2 sisters, and 2 brothers, she is mourned by her daughter Rubena Warkentin of Edmonton; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and 1 stepson. The funeral was Sept. 6 in Central Heights Church, Abbotsford, with Henry Wiebe ministering.

Margaret Thiessen

Margaret Thiessen passed away suddenly July 28. She was born Aug. 20, 1918 to Jacob and Marie Pauls in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, the oldest of 11 children. She dedicated her life to the Lord at a young age. The family moved to Boissevain, Man. in 1926. She worked hard to help with her siblings and the household. At 16 she went to work for a farmer, doing housework for $4 a month. In 1939 the family moved to B.C. She worked for MCC in Germany, at the Bethesda Home in Ontario, as a housekeeper in Vancouver, and at the Chilliwack, B.C. hospital. She married Cornelius Thiessen, a widower with 5 children, in June 14, 1955. She willingly accepted the challenge of caring for a large instant family. Two additional children were born. They operated dairy and filbert nut farms until retiring in 1978. She had many interests such as knitting, crocheting, crafts, gardening and even waterskiing to the age of 61. She had an outgoing personality and was caring and giving.Predeceased by a son and 2 grandchildren, she is mourned by Cornie, daughters Elfrieda Schuender, Lydia Christie and Maryann Janicki, sons Ed, Richard and Gordon; 12 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
