MBM/S appoints media head

FRESNO, CALIF.

Mennonite Brethren Missions/Services announced Oct. 28 the appointment of Brad Thiessen as Secretary for Communications and Media. Thiessen will be responsible for all media produced by MBM/S, including print, video and the MBM/S World Wide Web site.

Thiessen comes to MBM/S after two years in the communication and public affairs department at Crossroads Health Region south of Edmonton, Alberta. There, he was responsible for all graphic media for the Region's eight health facilities and its home-based services. Prior to that, he studied English literature and music at Concord College and the University of Winnipeg, and worked part-time with the MB Herald for several years. His wife, Rachelle Ventura, has completed a Master's degree in piano performance.

"I am looking forward to using my abilities to spread Christ's message," states Thiessen. "This position offers a tremendous challenge, and the team at MBM/S has gone out of their way to welcome my wife and me to our new home."

Thiessen will work out of the MBM/S head office in Fresno, California. His position becomes effective once immigration procedures are finalized.
