Stephen Karl Ens

Steve Karl Ens passed away Oct. 16 in an accident. He was born Jan. 29, 1967 to Willie and Carol Ens and was raised in Manitou, Man. He was baptized in August, 1982 at Mary Jane Lake. He married Linda Bird Dec. 19, 1987. They lived in Winnipeg 6 years, then in Manitou and most recently in Kleefeld, Man. He worked as a roofer, framer and tax preparer, then built his own business in the Manitou/Morden area. He loved life, doing everything to the fullest, from playing on the Caronport High School winning football team to working with youth at Manitou MB Church. He thrived on competition. He loved to play with his boys, work with his hands and laugh. He constantly talked about his love for his wife and children. He is mourned by wife Linda; sons Dustin and Cody; parents; 1 sister; 1 brother; and grandmother Anna Heinrichs of Morden. The funeral was Oct. 24 in Morden Evangelical Mennonite Mission Church, with George Toews and Ed Neufeld ministering.

Ella Block

Ella Block passed away Oct. 26. She was born Nov. 19, 1909 to Gerhard and Anna Derksen in Borden, Sask. She attended school in winter and in summer helped her older married siblings. She accepted Jesus through a sermon on Matt. 5:8 in January, 1921 and was baptized 3 years later. She attended Bethany Bible School. She married Isaac Block June 8, 1930. They farmed in Borden, Sask. As a pastor's wife, she often hosted visiting ministers and missionaries. They retired from the farm in 1965 and worked as houseparents to elderly residents of Dalmeny (Sask.) Home. They moved to Saskatoon in 1974, continuing a ministry to the elderly and travelling to visit their children. Isaac died in March, 1997. Shortly before her death, she noted in her journal her gratitude that her children had also committed themselves to God and that they could praise Him together. Predeceased by her husband, infant children Peter and Anna, 1 granddaughter, 2 brothers and 6 sisters, she is mourned by sons Albert of Three Hills, Alta., George of Caronport, Sask., Isaac of Winnipeg, John of Orillia, Ont., Henry and Reuben of Saskatoon, Neil of Winkler, Man., Daniel of Louisville, Ky., David of West Bank, B.C., Ben of Red Deer, Alta., Art of Paradise Valley, Alta. and Harold of Sherwood Park, Alta.; daughter Rosella Willems of St. Catharines, Ont.; 47 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters and 1 brother. The funeral was Nov. 2 in Hope Fellowship Church, Saskatoon, with Frank Froese ministering.

William John Voth

William John (Bill) Voth passed away Oct. 24. He was born Jan. 27, 1928 to John and Mary Voth in Portage la Prairie, Man. They moved to Readymade, Alta. when he was 6 and to Chilliwack, B.C. when he was 17. He married Betty Krause Aug. 27, 1954. They moved to Prince George, B.C. and began teaching. In 1958 they went to Calcutta, India for a 3-year MCC assignment. They returned to Prince George, where Bill continued teaching and worked in school administration. He loved God and people, and was actively involved in Westwood MB Church. They retired to Chilliwack, B.C. in 1989, where they enjoyed involvement in Sardis Community Church. During these years they served 2 years as volunteers in eastern Kentucky, and 1 year as hosts of International Guest House in Washington, D.C. Cancer was discovered early this year. He is mourned by wife Betty; daughters Janet Neufeld, Shirley Esau and Connie Warkentin; and 7 grandchildren. The funeral was Oct. 29 in Sardis Community Church, with Nick Willems ministering.

Herman Schultz

Herman Schultz passed away Oct. 14. He was born Mar. 25, 1913 in Herbert, Sask. and attended school near Rosefarm, Sask. He married Nettie Mathies in 1935. They farmed near Rush Lake, Sask. until retiring to Swift Current, Sask. in 1972. Doing yard work and visiting with family and friends gave much enjoyment. Though his health failed in the last months, his love and faith in God stayed strong. Predeceased by wife Nettie in 1994, 2 brothers, 6 sisters, 3 half-brothers and 4 half-sisters, he is mourned by sons Herman of Calgary and Garry of Kamloops, B.C.; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral was Oct. 16 in Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, with Lorne Willms and Jim Gregor ministering.
