Jurgen Schonwetter, long-time instructor at Columbia Bible College, was admitted to hospital Jan. 3 following a heart attack. A week later, he was still in intensive care. The 59-year-old is expected to be on bed rest for 6-8 weeks. The College is asking for prayer for Schonwetter's recovery.
Neighbourhood Church of Nanaimo, B.C. baptized five new members Dec. 5: Cory and Dolores Funk, Karin Liebig, Shannon Young and Tracy Cubitt.
Stephane Rheaume became pastor of the MB church in St-Eustache, Que. on Nov. 1. He earned a B.A. in social work from the Universite de Montreal in 1993 and an M.Div. in biblical studies from MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif. in 1997. He served as pastor of Eglise mennonite Evangelique de Saint-Louis in Alsace, France in the summer of 1996 and as half-time interim pastor of the St-Eustache church in the summer of 1997.
Eric Ens became half-time youth pastor at Fraserview MB Church in Richmond, B.C. in November. He is a full-time employee of Youth For Christ, and the church is buying his services from YFC. He grew up in the church and has been involved in youth ministry there since 1978. He earned an electrical service certificate from B.C. Institute of Technology and worked seven years repairing commerical electrical appliances. He then joined YFC in 1986 and took the two-year YFC credentialling course. He has also studied for a year at Northwest Baptist Theological College. His wife Mary is a bookkeeper with YFC. They have four children, Karen, 13, Stephanie, 11, Tanya, 9, and Jennifer, 6.
