Grace closes

ALDERGROVE, B.C.

Grace Christian Fellowship closed its ministry on January 11, 1998. The church began in 1990 and joined the Mennonite Brethren Conference in 1992. Its ministry centred on the central Langley and Cloverdale, B.C. areas.

The farewell service celebrated God's blessing and presence in the church's eight years of ministry. During that time, over 20 people came to Christ, were baptized and joined the church. The closing service featured a commissioning service of the current members into the ministry of surrounding churches. Most members will be identifying with Mennonite Brethren congregations in the area. The church's material assets have been turned over to B.C. MB Conference Board of Church Extension for use in new church plants.

"When people ask how long this work lasted," pastor Michael Brown said, "after seeing the changes in the lives of people we have ministered to, tell people it lasted eight years and all eternity."

Brown brought his farewell message, "A Pastor Says Goodbye" from Paul's address to the Ephesian elders. Brown will be finishing his Doctor of Ministry degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and looking for further ministry opportunities.
