Wiens joins MBBS development staff

Fresno, Calif.

Fred Wiens has been named to a half-time position in donor development at MB Biblical Seminary in Fresno, Calif., starting March 1. Wiens is retiring after teaching 34 years in Winnipeg. He will be responsible for donor development in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario. Another half-time position will be filled to cover British Columbia and Alberta. Wiens has served several terms as conference secretary and on the MB Communications board. "His strengths are: integrity of character, a willingness to learn, deep commitment to the church and denominational institutions . . . and (a) commitment to the importance of education," said Henry Schmidt, MBBS president.

Wiens said he is excited about the new challenge. In February he visited MBBS, meeting the faculty and staff, planning donor development strategies and sitting in on some classes. He and his wife Pat are members of McIvor Ave. MB Church, where he has coordinated adult Sunday school, taught junior high classes and has worked on the finance committee.
