New Bible school planned

Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario

A Capernwray-style Bible school is being planned for Ontario. The buildings of the former Eden Christian High School in Niagara-on-the-Lake are being readied or a September start-up. The idea of this Bible school was the brainchild of three Christian businesspeople from the Niagara area. They saw this as a golden opportunity for the old Eden property and invited loyal Christians to become involved in the planning of the school.

The purpose of the Capernwray-style school is to nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through in-depth Bible study and to express this through the lives of students from all over the world. Although it will not initially be part of the Capernwray association of schools, it is hoped that eventually it will be integrated with the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship of Torchbearers. While the program will be primarily a one-year residential program for post-secondary school youth from the area, local churches will also benefit from the Bible teachers who will be invited to teach at the school.

Before classes begin in September, a non-profit organization will be formed to run the school and the building will need to be redecorated. The lecture schedule will also need to be set. A pilot class will hopefully be taught in May.

Acting director Ed Janzen, stated that it was a returning to roots to establish a school in the area. Eden Christian High School was first founded as a Bible school, then transformed into a high school, and now the property was to again be used as a Bible school. While the Bible school will be the main activity at the site, it is hoped that other kinds of activities will also be able to be conducted at the site, and some of the excess land may be developed for other purposes.
