The human family is divided into three economic classes:
* One billion people do not have enough to live decent lives--not enough food or water, not enough to wear, not enough shelter, not enough education. These people need more, and they know it.
* Three billion people are in the global middle class. They have enough to eat and drink, enough to wear, adequate shelter, enough education to earn a decent living. Many are satisfied, but many want more.
* One billion people form the global upper class. They buy new clothes. They get much of their protein from meat. They have more material goods than they need. They live in large, climate-controlled houses. They drive private cars. Many, if not most, of these people are unsatisfied and want more. I could say "we" instead of "they"--because I am a member of the global upper class. So are most readers of the MB Herald and most members of the Mennonite family in North America.
