Panorama Community Church in Surrey, B.C. has welcomed 9 new members by baptism. Baptized Apr. 26 were Kay Adams, Patti Blank, Andre Groulx, Debbie Groulx, Tiffany Rice, Marisca Johnson and Kim Skippen. Baptized May 31 were Marina Kidd and Malcolm Middleton.
Les W. Janzen has been appointed executive director at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg, effective Oct. 1. Janzen joined Donwood in 1995 as director of administration. He has 25 years experience in health care and related services in Manitoba and Alberta. Donwood Manor, which provides nursing care and housing for 450 seniors, is owned by eight Winnipeg MB churches. Janzen and his wife Linda have two grown sons. Janzen replaces Hertha Janzen, who is retiring after 17 years at Donwood, the last eight years as executive director.
David Brandt, who has been president of Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. since 1995, resigned effective Aug. 1. He will become president at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. GFU is a private Christian school of about 2,300 students. Tabor is a liberal arts college operated by the Southern and Central District MB conferences. At Tabor, Brandt played a significant role in completing a $3.28 million US capital campaign to build the Solomon L. Loewen Natural Science Center. He was also instrumental in forming a strategic plan for enhancing the college's financial viability, which calls for the addition of graduate programs in accounting and education and a bachelor of science degree in nursing. In August, Larry Nikkel became interim president at Tabor (see MBH, Aug. 28).
