Home Church: The Meeting Place
What is your Ministry:
After growing up learning classical music I explored new styles of music and opportunities for worship. I tried leading worship on the encouragement of Albert Baerg at Portage Ave. MB Church in Winnipeg and discovered a gift that had been lying dormant. My husband Lionel and went on to begin Saturday Night Ministries, a place where people from various denominations came together once a month to worship, and then also to begin The Meeting Place, a seeker-targeted Mennonite Brethren church in Winnipeg. Now employed at The Meeting Place, I enjoy writing worship songs and going places to help people with their worship ministries and encourage them in any way I can.
Personal Data: I have a husband, Lionel, and two daughters. Some of my hobbies include: learning to play percussion, reading, movies, riding with my husband on his Harley (haven't got mine yet) and an assortment of artsy things like sewing, home decorating, baking, gardening, and crafty "stuff".
Musical Influences: I'll list artists or songwriters I love: Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt, Larry Carlton, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Yolanda Adams, Jann Arden, Wayne Kirkpatrick, jars of clay, Margaret Becker, Carolyn Arends.
Musical Style: pop, ballad, and rock, with some jazz and r&b influences
What do you listen to these days?
Melanie Doane, Shakespearean Fish Diana Krall, only trust your heart
What do you listen to on the road? When driving, I like to listen to music such as the Doobie Brothers, Dire Straits, Paul Simon's Gracelan, etc. I have not taken my "ministry" on the road that often.
What are you reading right now? The New Worship by Barry Liesch; Worship Evangelism by Sally Morgentaler and Windows of the Soul by Ken Gire
