Despite a video recall in early January of the Disney animation feature re-release of The Rescuers, video copies were still being sold a week later in Toronto. Disney said it was recalling 3.4 million copies of the children's adventure after it was learned the tapes included a brief image (on two of the film's 110,000 frames) of a bare-breasted woman in one scene. Disney declined to say what the recall would cost, but clearly it would be in the tens of millions of dollars. The company would not provide information on how many tapes in Canada were affected. Disney said it will reimburse any consumers who demand a full refund, although it is speculated that many will keep the tapes as a collectible. The Rescuers is a 1977 Disney feature about two heroic mice. It played in theatres in 1983 and 1989.--WINNIPEG FREE PRESS

"Declaration Concerning Religion, Ethics and the Clinton Presidency" is a six-point document on the Internet that argues that the President misused religion for political advantage over the Lewinsky scandal, and that he should be held accountable. The names of 160 scholars who endorse the declaration are included at the end of the document. Judgment Day at the White House, published by Eerdmans, presents the declaration as well as critical essays and rejoinders by scholars. They explore topics such as the social effects of sinful acts, the manipulation of religion in the debate about presidential responsibility, and the exploitation of words like "repentance" and "forgiveness" for political advantage. The Declaration Web site can be connected at www.moral-crisis.org, and the book can be ordered for $12.00 US by phone 800-253-7521 or e-mail sales@eerdmans.com.--DECLARATION CONCERNING RELIGION, ETHICS AND THE CLINTON PRESIDENCY
