IBL opening program for French-speaking students outside province

ST-LAURENT, QUE.

Institute biblique Laval, the French-language Mennonite Brethren school associated with the faculty of theology at Université de Montréal, is opening its program to students outside the province of Quebec who have been in French immersion.

"For years, pastors and leaders from other parts of the country have told us that young people who have learned French in an immersion program would be interesting candidates for us," said Jean-Raymond Théorêt, IBL's registrar.

For Eric Wingender, the school's president, having bilingual students from other provinces will make IBL a place where English-speaking Canadians and French-speaking Québécois can listen to each other and develop a better understanding of each other's perspectives.

Founded in 1976, Institute biblique Laval has been associated with the faculty of theology at Université de Montréal for nine years. It is located on the island of Montreal, in the city of Saint-Laurent. IBL offers undergraduate training in Bible and theology in an anabaptist-evangelical perspective, and is accredited by the University of Montreal.
