Christian publishers, editors and writers from 43 countries gathered for LITT-WORLD `98, the international Christian print media training conference organized by Media Associates International. Meeting Sept. 28-Oct. 2 in Hoddeson, England, 140 participants took in the conference's theme "Publishing Priorities in a Fragile World". The conference allowed participants to connect with others involved in Christian print media. Jesus Lord of Life is the title of a new bilingual worship CD by the Christian music group Upstream. The music was selected by March for Jesus Canada as the official music for 1999 and 2000. This is the first time a Canadian written and produced CD has been given this honour. Upstream Christian Initiatives is a British Columbia-based ministry that sets out to encourage Canadians to reconcile to Christ and to each other. The CD features eight worship songs recorded twice, once in English and again in French. Songs include "We Lift You Up", "Heal Our Land" and "Lord of Life/Crown Him With Many Crowns". The Church of the Brethren is launching a national Internet service using a values-based filter that will screen out undesirable content. Brethren Benefit Trust's newly created Internet business was scheduled to be launched in mid-March, offering filtered Internet access memberships and e-mail service. The new service is designed to filter out potentially offensive Web sites by applying screens to 30 categories, including violence, hate, pornography, gambling, homework cheating and sexually oriented materials.
