A golf course

LANGLEY, B.C.

One hundred fifty-four participants successfully completed a one-day "course" offered by Columbia Bible College April 27 at Newlands Golf and Country Club in Langley, B.C. The fourth annual Columbia Open Golf Tournament attracted golfers from across the Fraser Valley and Vancouver.

The organizing committee had established four objectives for the tournament:

(1) to build relationships and new friendships, (2) to highlight the Columbia Bible College cause, (3) to raise $40,000 for the College and (4) to have an enjoyable time "banking a pleasant memory".

All four objectives were realized. An enjoyable afternoon of golf was followed by a sumptuous buffet, a silent auction and prizes for all.

Several golfers were recognized for their success on the fairway. Awards for the longest drive went to Mike Redekop and Hilda Hildebrand. Don Martin and Elly Isaak were the "closest to the hole". Low gross awards went to Norm Funk and Lisa Unrau, and the low gross team was made up of Chris Boschman, Byron Johnson, Brian Albertson and Steve Pauls.

The financial objective was also realized, as $42,000 was raised, more than double the amount raised at last year’s tournament. Elly Bargen
