“One by One”

By DOXA, 1998

The majority of the disk features easy listening which the acoustic guitar lover will immediately fall for. Vijay Manuel’s simple and pure voice stirs up emotions, particularly when accompanied by haunting female harmonies. This CD also offers variety as the lead guitarist steps on the distortion pedal for a couple of ‘heavier’ tunes. The disk closes out in an alternative style, (make sure you listen to the very end!). Variety is also displayed in the challenging lyrics. DOXA explores many facets of the Christian life and takes some time to lift up God’s name.

As musical styles progress, so too will worship styles. DOXA’s music has a real flow to it which builds a bridge between Christian rock and vineyard worship. This feel could be extremely effective (as I’m sure it is in their home church) but they may take some adapting to.

One by One is very catchy and I enjoyed it the first time through. Time will tell whether catchy music makes for better listening and worship. I’m sure God eagerly awaits the worship times DOXA will lead at NYC 99.

DOXA is a worship band from South Abbotsford MB Church in BC. They have a vibrant ministry every Sunday nite. This ministry touches christian and non-christian young adults. DOXA is the worship band at NYC 99.
